Yummy!

Well, we kinda decided to add a little spice to Jack's life. He's at that weight where I am just keeping up with his food needs. We gave him some organic brown rice cereal for the first time last night. I made sure it was good and runny. That kid downed it like a champ! He loved it! I actually added a little cereal to thicken it just a bit and he went nuts. He ate like he's been eating for months now. I posted his pics to facebook, not very clear, but he is a pretty messy eater, as can be expected of babies. I just hope I'm not doing harm as he is just over 3 months. I was hoping to wait to the end of the month, but he was eating every hour and a half, and I can keep up with that, but not much more right now. He's beginning to be fussier and acting like he's always hungry, so we decided to try. So far so good. Perhaps for Christmas we'll get a food processor so we can make our own baby food and get him as much vitamins, minerals, and real nutrition as possible. So, what was your baby's favorite food and how early did you start them on solids?

Growin' up

Wow! I really want to just put a stack of books on his head! Jack is growing like a weed! We haven't been to the doctors lately so not sure of exact measurements, but he's now wearing up to 9 month old clothes. He can still wear 0/3 onsies but everything else has to be bigger. It's probably due to the fact that he's already addicted to the tv. If he can get any glimpse if it, he will stare as long as I let him, which isn't very long since it's not so good for his poor little eyes.

I put him on the floor for tummy time and he turned over!! He did it a couple times. He surprised himself and then got the biggest smile on his face thinkin he's hot stuff now lol. He's gotten good at smiling, "talking", laughing, and surprised himself a couple times by accidental raspberries.

He loves both his grandpas, but so far has an uncanny link to grandpa Murrish. They sit and talk in the evenings, and he'll even give mommy dirty looks on command for him! Coincidence? Most likely, but funny nonetheless

We are so excited for all of his first holidays. For Halloween he scored bigtime candy as Jack Skellington. Daddy says we're having another baby next year so we can repeat and score even more.....mommy says good luck with that plan...not happening!! He got passed around to everyone on Thanksgiving, and will hopefully encounter his first snow when we take him to Utah for his first Christmas and New Year's.

Our family just got bigger!

Well, I think I win the laziest blogger award haha. Darold and I became proud parents on August 31, 2010 at 4:44pm. Jack Spencer Murrish made his appearance weighing in at 8lbs 11oz and reaching 19in. Unfortunately, my doctor thought it wise to forego inducing and go ahead with a scheduled C-Section as the baby already measured over 9lbs a week and a day before my due date and as previously mentioned, I was gestationally diabetic and genetically prone to big babies. All went fairly smooth even with my delivery being pushed back once due to twins being delivered in emergency C-section, then pushed back again (but this time I was on the operating table receiving my spinal) due to my doctor needing to rush to a different hospital to deliver a baby, which she missed so I got put back on the table only to wait forever and a day for my anesthesiologist to finish an epidural on another patient. Surgery went well and baby was finally born, with a head of hair, which was the first thing Darold noticed! As they wheeled the baby away and Darold followed to keep a watchful eye, I took a nap while being sewed up....and snored of course. Doctors freaked out and assumed I have sleep apnea, where I stop breathing when I sleep, and informed me I was being taken to ICU so I could be monitored for 24hrs (they said I would be prone to stop breathing and therefore die faster since I had the spinal) so essentially I was separated from the baby for the first 24 hours of his life. They were kind enough to bring him to me in recovery before going upstairs for a few minutes. Darold was fortunate to be able to come to the hospital early the next morning and hang out with him for a couple hours before being allowed to come see me. He told me that all he did was lay there awake and look around! Such an alert baby! Finally I was taken back to the women's dept and we spent the next 3 days bonding. We had family and friends come see us and messy diapers to change and a new life to love!

Jack was blessed on 10-10-10 and most our family was able to make it. My family met him and fell under his spell just like the rest of 'em. He also met his cousin who was born just 3 weeks before he was.

Jack is now almost 10weeks old and he is tipping the scales at 13lbs 03oz and almost 23in. He is smiling and cooing and is so happy. He only really cries if he's hungry,messy or tired and spends his time looking around and making ppl melt and smile. He enjoys his carseat and LOVES to go for stroller rides. He loves being outside since there are so many things to look at. He adores his daddy and grandpa. They talk all the time. He enjoys being the first grandson on Darold's side and can't wait to be old enough to go camping, canoeing, biking, shooting, and all the other big boy things with his daddy, grandpa, and uncles. We adore him and can't wait to go to Utah for Christmas this year and let him discover snow!

Mommyhood...Here I come!

Well it looks like my pregnancy is coming to an end! I was told that Pomona hospital doesn't let moms go past 39/40 weeks with gestational diabetes...aka me! So either next week or the week after, if I haven't delivered, I'll be going in to be induced. I guess it's a good things as family history shows us moms giving birth to 2 month olds lol. Will definitelt keep you posted!

You don't know Jack....

.........at least not yet! We have decided to name our baby boy Jack Spencer. All is still going well. I have gestational diabetes, but the only benefit to having a high risk pregnancy is that I get to hear his heartbeat 3x a week. 2x doing non stress tests and once at my dr appts. They said that he is measuring slightly big, but not bad. We're just not sure if it's from the diabetes or family history. I'm prone to possibly delivering a child the size of a 2 month old lol.

Darold is still enjoying his job having travelled twice already to AZ with a team to set up buildings at their new location. Many of his coworkers nicknamed him DIP since Darold once wore a bright yellow shirt that says DIP, like the signs, so they have already nicknamed our child little dip! If anyone sees a bright yellow onsies...esp if it says dip on it...let me know, we are on the lookout!

I no longer am massaging until after the baby is born..which feels like eternity from now..and am trying desparately to make sure our room is ready for the new arrival. We have our crib set up, clothes organized, diaper bag ready to go and my bag getting packed! So much to do, not much time left. Only 3 1/2 weeks to go! Wish us luck!!

It's a Boy!!

So we still don't have a computer so we can post pics, but we are adding to our little family!! Sept 1 we are looking forward to welcoming our son to our family!! Mom is doing great! No morning sickness, just a little heartburn and quick gag reflex. No names have officially been picked, but we'll definitely keep you posted!

Working, Working, Working!!

Darold is getting his second paycheck today!! He found this great job right here in Ontario! He is working at Crown Technology doing some prefabrication work. Essentially he builds buildings so they can be transported in large pieces and assembled again where they're needed, like Oklahoma, Arizona, Northern California...etc, and around every 3 months he'll travel with a crew to assemble them. He's very excited and working VERY hard! He doesn't necessarily have the funnest (?) schedule as he has to be there to start working at 6:30am, but it's full time, and he's off at 3 so he has his full afternoon, and full benefits after 90 days! Very exciting! I'm still here at my job at the spa part time and enjoy being able to still see my hubby.

Life in Ontario

Wow! So much has happened since Valentine's weekend of this year. Darold and I have moved back to SoCal and decided to save money and move in with his parents. The rats have successfully made the transition quite well. Since moving, we have also adopted another little guy in our family and lovingly named him Dr. Stupid. To be honest that was the only name that we could find from the Ren and Stimpy show (since those are who the others are named after). He's a little pill and loves to start fights, especially with Ren. He's also the perfect balance between the two as he is black and white, and Ren is black and Stimpy is White. As soon as I have internet, I'll post some pics of all three of them.

Both of us have had such a hard time getting employed again since the downfall of our economy. I was actually planning on going back to Pebble Beach occasionally to keep my employee status there. However, due to some MAJOR miscommunication on their part, I no longer work there. Luckily, I have recently found an awesome day spa not far from my house. We officially opened our doors to the public one week ago today. Darold has started doing a handyman job with 2 of his brothers for now (the 3rd will probably join after he finishes school) They have been working at this for about a month and have shown some fantastic progress. We have our squabbles, but what family doesn't? I think they all want this to work and are all pushing very hard for it.

Other than that...not much is going on. Just living life the best I can. Married life is still the best and I look forward to a lifetime more of it!!

Being a Mormon

I saw this list and really liked it. The person who posted it did not write it but also did not give the name of who did...I'm not taking credit for it...I just really like it and think it explains alot.

Mormons
You most likely know one. Whether you're aware of it or not.

Our real name is The Church of JESUS CHRISTof Latter Day Saints. Which means we're Christian :)

Sometimes we go by LDS.

Mormon is a nickname given us because we believe in the Book of Mormon. We usually go by Mormon cuz that's how people know us...

We don't drink.

We don't smoke.

We don't drink coffee... and if you see one of us doing that, slap them and say "NO!"

Joseph Smith was the first LDS prophet. Brigham Young was the second.

BYU is a mormon college...There are 3 of them - one in Utah, Idaho, and Hawaii. BYU stands for Brigham Young University.

We don't have sex before marriage.

We have more fun playing chutes and ladders than spin the bottle.

Not all of us have been Mormon our whole lives...

The high school-aged youth go to a seminary (like sunday school) class each morning before school.

Our church session is 3 hours long and we love it.

The mormon missionaries are the two coolest guys ever. Be nice to them ;P

It's true. We make the best green jello salad and casseroles you've ever tasted.

We think mormon jokes are funny.

We don't date till we're sixteen.

We know that groups dates are more fun anyway.

We know that the most fun dates - don't cost money.

We give talks in church in front of 150-300 people. how's that for public speaking?

We are stubborn as heck. We don't give in to peer pressure.

We have refreshments at almost ANY meeting.

We celebrate holidays by throwing either a BBque or a dinner.

We love to sing and dance.

If you go to a youth dance, you WILL see conga lines, break dancing, square or line dances and swing dancing.

You will also participate in either the Chicken dance, or the Hokey Pokey ;P

Almost every mormon girl can play the piano.

We don't watch R-rated movies.

We dress modestly. Skirts/shorts to the knee, shirts with sleeves, one-piece bathing suits... that type of thing. These standards are never supposed to be relaxed... EVEN FOR PROM.

We CAN use technology.

We CAN eat fast-food.

We DON'T practice polygamy.

If we ask you to go to an activity, it's NOT a conspiracy thing where we're trying to convert you. It means we have fun and we want to share that with you. Likely the church won't even really be mentioned while you're there.

If we ask you to go to church, it's because we care enough about you to want to share with you what we know and the blessings we've received.

If we give you a Book of Mormon, we're giving you the most precious gift we have. It may not have the same meaning to you at first. That book has changed lives for the better and when we see you going through hard times, we want to help. This is the best way we know of helping you. So don't be offended. Even if you don't want it, know that we care about you THAT much.

If you turn us down, it's ok.

If you think we're pushing you, tell us to knock it off! We'll stop.

If you ask us what we believe, only for the sake of arguing, we won't tell you. It's pointless to engage on that when you're not going to open your mind and listen.

Asking you to go to church, an activity, or giving you a Book of Mormon is incredibly hard. It's like a guy asking out his crush. Some of us are more comfortable in doing that than others. It's hard. So if we do it, be NICE! :)

We don't care what you wear, what you look like, as long as you come! We're happy to see you!

If you see anyone on TV (not on the BYU channel) under the age of fifty talking about mormons, they're probably lying.

It's nearly impossible to offend us - even if you do it on purpose.

We don't use bad language and we hate hearing it from others. But if you slip up, it's not a big deal. We still love you.

People like, respect and even admire us, but are rarely interested in hearing what we believe.

We're not perfect. No one is. We make mistakes. We slip. Try not to judge us by one person who is struggling.

Movin' Time!

Last week, Darold and I decided that it's time to move back home to SoCal. Ontario is where we started, all his family is, and where we feel that we need to be. We are definitely going to miss being here, my job, and all the fantastic friends we made, and our scouts! I sound really sad, I'm sure, and I am, but I (we) am/are so excited to be moving home and starting yet another chapter in our lives. Besides...we gotta move before any tsunami's hit...we've been warned by signs! haha

My New Addiction

So I heard about this craze a few months ago about vampires. Well, maybe not vampires in general, but about a certain clan of vampires. They're young, they're hot, and they are ready to kick some booty....for one human. Go figure. She's pretty plain, and clumsy, but she's pretty cool. So I found out that a friend has all the books and has read them several times and is willing to lend them out....with a warning..."They're really good. You'll become addicted." I said ok bout time I have a good book to read. That was two weeks ago and I'm almost finished with the fourth book now. And they are not small books. So now I've alienated my husband and myself have fallen in love with a vampire, but I'm not sure which one, cause they're all pretty bad-a**. Yeah...they're really good and yeah...I'm addicted!!!!!

Last night we went to see the movie and it was even better than I could imagine. There were only a couple differences that really stood out to me, but really well done! I just can't wait for the movie to come out on dvd so I can watch it over and over and over and over....................again.

The Rainy Beach

Darold's favorite thing is to drive in the rain. I heard the raindrops and grabbed him to hop in the car and go for a fun drive. We ended up at a small walking trail that follows the beach. The beach in the rain is the best!! We even took some pictures!






We ended up wet, sandy, and exhilerated running up and down the beach and even hiking up a small hill to overlook the beach!

Gettin ready for CHRISTMAS!!

I think that this is the first Christmas that I have actually been really GIDDY about Christmas! We went to Utah in November for Darold's brother's wedding in Logan, and the day that we were supposed to leave to go back to warm and sunny California....it SNOWED!!!!



Our poor Car!! I don't think it knew what to come of all this freezing white stuff stuck everywhere!



This is also the first year that not only have I been listening and enjoying Christmas music and movies, but I've been listening to it since before Thanksgiving!! I used to get frustrated and upset at people who did that. Haha...Now I'm one of them!! This is also the first time that we're not in boxes moving in and getting settled, or in boxes getting ready to move. We are actually able to sit back and enjoy the holidays. We even got a real tree!! It smells so fantastic! This is also the first time that I got to set up my nativity set that my mom made for me years ago! (You can see it in the picture below on the book shelf under the widow.)

Labor Day

All Darold wanted for his birthday was to go home and suprise his family at their annual canoeing trip. We had so much fun with pretty much no sleep. We travelled down Sunday night, got up Monday morning to go to the lake, played all day and travelled home Monday night to be back to work on Tues!! Woo Hoo was it worth it!!!

Celebrating our first wedding anniversary

Yesterday we celebrated our first wedding anniversary, so we (meaning Tine) have decided to list what we have learned in the last 12 months.

Dario:

1. Explain what you're doing fully and make sure she understands
2. Don't forget to call back when she calls and you can't get to the phone right away
3. Schedule in extra time to get ready and you still will be late
4. Don't expect to go to sleep when you want to. She will torture you until you do what she needs done.

Tine:

1. Nobody will clean up if you don't do it
2. Men really don't like to put the toilet seat down
3. Del Taco becomes a luxury on a budget
4. Just because you have two incomes doesn't mean you make more money
5. "Mine" had been replaced by "ours"
6. Your spouse isn't the only one making stupid mistakes
7. Take pictures
8. Crying is ok sometimes
9. Clothes don't clean themselves, no matter how often you step over them
10. Celebrating your first anniversary doesn't make you an old married couple! You can always be newlyweds! (even a lifetime is nothin compared to eternity!!!!)

Going for a Step Stool, Leaving With the Store!

My kitchen is very difficult to organize because our cabinets are really tall..all the way to the ceiling and I can't reach so well without a step stool, which we haven't had the money for. So we broke down and decided to go get one. I found the exact one I wanted and it was only $15! I was very excited! Then Dario said that we needed to fix the hose since the attachment squirter...thing.... doesn't quite fit properly, so we went to the garden area. While he looked for what he needed, I glanced at the other stuff they had going on right behind me. What do I see?? CLEARANCE!!! WHOO HOO!!! We've been dying to put chairs outside with a cute little table so we can enjoy our little yard and garden but they've always been so expensive. We decided to get these fantastic chairs for more than half off (about $10 a fanstastic steal.) The only problem is the fact that they were quite big...almost didn't fit in the car. But I had faith in my wonderful husband. He then told me that he used to make fun of people for doing what we did. I figured it was ok since just about a year and a half ago we had to transport my twin bed on top of our car...ghetto style hahahaha Oh Well! What can ya do??
